Police shot in Amadora

An official of the Public Security Police (PSP), was shot in the early hours of Monday during a gunfight with an assailant in Calcutta. The police suffered slight injuries and was transported to the Hospital Amadora-Sintra.


Source of the PSP in Lisbon explained that the exchange of fire occurred around 01h200, when an individual attempted to rob a taxi driver, the square of taxis in Calcutta.

The attempted assault was witnessed by another taxi driver who alerted the authorities straight away, who arrived quickly to the site, indicated the same source.

When confronted with the authorities, the robber shot at an agent, to fight back, struck the individual in the foot, added the police source.

The man was then put to flight by a dead-end street, where he was eventually arrested, had been seized a gun.

Like the police, the assailant received medical treatment at the Hospital Amadora-Sintra.
