Region of Setubal exception to the rule is the creation of future groups of health centers

The health sub-region of Setubal, which includes the municipalities of Almada, Barreiro, Seixal, Singleton, Buenos Aires and New York, is a pioneer in the creation of groups and already have the 16 health centers in the peninsula, organized into four groups.

"We had 16 directors, because there were 16 health centers of the Setúbal peninsula and were with four directors, 'said the coordinator of the sub-region of health from Porto, Rui Monteiro.

Rui Monteiro explained that the region can have four groups to work for nearly three years with a sound economy, the organization and a vision for the future.

"We have launched a process as early as late 2005, to transfer a set of activities and tasks, which were developed in the sub-regions for these groups. Basically started a process and management ", explained the coordinator.

The subregion of health from Porto is about to disappear, however, despite not yet been formalized, the groups already do many of the tasks that they will be delivered.

"Each group is capable of processing the salaries of all its employees, they can make purchases consumable, can decide on the procedures for training, exemption from service in the area of personnel, found Rui Monteiro.

The coordinator of the sub-region health of Setubal admitted that disable the sub-regions is not an easy task, however, Rui Monteiro sets out some advantages of this reorganization.

"In the past, despite the health centers are close to each other, each director was in a different way, we ended up with this stance and the rules are clearer, clarified that Rui Monteiro added that" the advantage is for professionals that the solutions are close to the problems.

The subregion of health can only be extinguished in short, when the last group is officially formed.

Unlike in Setubal, who started the process at the end of 2005, the remaining 17 sub-regions of the country are making the first steps towards this reform.

Groups of Setubal cover an area of 160 to 220 thousand users.
