Spirituality and health in debate National Meeting of the Pastoral

The National Commission for Pastoral Health held in Fatima, in the Paul VI Pastoral Center, the National Meeting of the Pastoral Health, this year dedicated to the topic "The dimension of spirituality therapy. The meeting is scheduled for the day 2 to Dec. 5, 2008.

The organization points out the importance of meeting contextualized in the debate "that has been done in society on the importance of spirituality in to take care with these patients and the right to religious assistance".

The closing session will count on the presence of Anne George, Minister of Health and D. Carlos Azevedo, President of the Commission's Episcopal Pastoral Social. Will be present during the meeting the delegate of the Holy See, Msgr. Dariusz Giers of the Pontifical Council for Pastoral Health, which represent the Cardinal Lozano Barragan, president of Dicastery of the Roman Curia.

Subjects to address the following stand out: The psychology of suffering and pain (Teresa Ribeiro); The pain and suffering in the light of Scripture (D. Norman Greenbaum); There will be a theology of suffering? Commentary on "Salvifici Doloris" of John Paul II (Jorge Teixeira da Cunha); In anthropology, the challenge of hope (Silveira de Brito) The posts of hope, in view of Benedict XVI - "Spe Salvi" (Jose Tolentino de Mendonça ); The spirituality and the paths of hope - the relationship of pastoral assistance (Jose Carlos Bermejo) spiritual values in the exercise of care: the affection, culture, social relationship (John Lamb); The spirituality as a healer, eminently dressing (Maria do Ceu Machado); Assistance spiritual and religious in the full care of sick person (Filipe Almeida).

In addition to the conference, a panel discussion complements the daily on the subject. During the meeting will take place a Prayer ecumenism.

On the last day, devoted to "Cooperation and the State of Religions in service to the sick," you will "The right of patients to a religious practice in the units responsible for health" (Antonio Ferreira) and the "relationship of Hospitals with the Christian communities in an effective service to the patient "(Mons. Victor Feytor Pinto).

The closing session is filled with a conference entitled "That all may have life and life in abundance" of D. Carlos Azevedo.
